Disaster Relief Information and Training Survey
Hello, I'm Nick Wolfe, one of the pastors at First Baptist Church Brookhaven and the coordinator of disaster relief volunteers. Thank you for your interest in joining this ministry.
FBC Brookhaven has two main goals in reviving and building our disaster relief ministry:
- Respond to disaster areas impacted by Hurricanes Helene and Milton this year.
- Improve our ability to respond quickly to future natural disasters.
We will achieve these goals by partnering with Mississippi Baptist Disaster Relief (MBDR) and the Lincoln Baptist Association (LBA). These organizations provide the resources and structure required to reach people in need quickly when disasters occur.
To work with MBDR, volunteers must complete training. Given the need for credentialed volunteers, MBDR is offering ZOOM training, and FBC Brookhaven has been selected as a host site. The training will take place on Thursday, October 24, 2024 and runs from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM, with volunteers receiving the Introduction to Disaster Relief Ministry Course (1 hour, 20 minutes), followed by specialty training in Flood Recovery (2 hours). Flood Recovery is the immediate need of disaster victims in Georgia, North Carolina, and Florida.
