First Baptist Student ministry exists to reach students for Christ, connect them with other Christians, help them grow in their faith, discover their ministry gifts and use them to honor God with their lives.

ROCK SOLID

Rock Solid is a mid-week worship service designed for 7th – 12th grade students. Each Wednesday during the school year the Family Life Center opens at 4:45 pm for students in our community. We offer a full-service grill where students can get a quality meal for a reasonable price and spend time hanging out in the student center. We also offer organized recreation from 4:45 pm - 5:45 pm. Our goal is to provide a safe place for students to connect with each other and caring adults.

From 6:00 pm - 6:45 pm, we gather together for worship. Worship is led by our Rock Solid Band and followed by Biblical teaching that intersects student’s lives and gives them a solid foundation for living out their faith.

Our desire is to see students connect with the family of faith, grow in their knowledge and love of Jesus, discover how God has uniquely gifted them and equip them to use those gifts to build his kingdom, and invite others to join in what God is doing here at First Baptist.

D-GROUPS

D-Groups (Discipleship Groups) meet on Sunday nights during the school year. All across our city students meet in homes to enjoy a meal and study the Bible together. D-Groups are age and gender specific and are designed to be more personal and help students grow deeper in their walk with Jesus and each other. Gifted and caring adults lead each group. D-Groups meet from 5:00 pm-6:30 pm.

SUNDAY SCHOOL

Every Sunday our students gather in the Student Center at 9:15 am to enjoy doughnuts and fellowship. We break out into large groups by grade level (7-12). Each grade level meets separately. Each group is lead by a gifted adult in a master teacher setting then followed by gender specific small groups led by caring adults. Sunday School is an excellent place to get connected here at First Baptist Church.

SUPER SUMMER

Super Summer is a discipleship/evangelism leadership conference designed to provide qualitative spiritual growth and help develop student leadership in Mississippi churches. Utilizing a camp setting, for 29 years, Super Summer has challenged students to learn how to penetrate their culture for Christ.

Super Summer is designed for students who personally have a desire to grow spiritually. Students come to Super Summer knowing that they will be challenged not only to grow, but to actively share their faith with others. Students must fulfill certain requirement in order to attend Super Summer.

Super Summer is designed to build on previous years. However, a junior or senior in high school who has never attended will still find that the camp is relevant to him/her. First-year students study basic discipleship issues. Second-year students get introduced to worldview, different beliefs, and character issues. Third-year students focus the entire week on becoming a leader in all areas of life. Fourth-year students concentrate on a biblical worldview. Fifth-year students spend the week reviewing and refining what they have learned over the past four years especially concerning servant-leadership. This includes hands-on missions experience, usually in the inner-city Jackson area. If you would like more information about Super Summer contact the church office.
